My Granny

Granny

Granny's Place, Inc., is a vision given to Beverly Veasley, Kim Hart and Janice Braggs while working together on another project in 2001. the Lord laid it on our hearts to put our knowledge, our life experiences, and our love into a place that would help children that have been removed temporarily from their home. As the years went by the idea was revisited many times. In the early part of 2007, we decided that it was time to move forward with our vision. A conversation took place between the three of us to come up with the perfect entity ..."a residential child care facility."

Now we needed a name for the home. Janice told the ladies about her precious daughter Charlette Rene Lewis, whose nickname was 'Granny' because from the beginning she acted older than her age. she was born September 30, 1979 and she passed September 15, 1985. When she was born she had some serious health issues therefore she spent the first eleven months of her life in the hospital. Even though she had many surgeries during her short life she was a happy, out-going little girl who never met a stranger. Charlette was a prankster but she was always thinking of others, she loved to share whatever she had especially with other children.

Shane and Grandfather

On one occasion we had they had gone to visit Charlette's grandparents in the country, their home was in much need of repair. Charlette at the age of four years old told her grandmother that when she grew up, she was going to buy a home. Little Charlette "Granny" never got the chance to make her dream come true. At the age of 5 1/2, the Lord called her home to be with him. In honor of "Granny's" dream, the vision that the Lord had placed on our hearts came to be named "Granny's Place."
